Revenge

Revenge is like rot, disintegrating that which was once sturdy and strong. Turning to dust what once sparkled brillantly in the sunlight.

Revenge's "Rotten Rule" states:
"Do unto others the same as (or worse than) they did."

Revenge is NOT form of justice!!! And should never have been construed as such.

How this twisted corollary to the Golden Rule ever became the de facto precedent for law can only be fathomed when one realizes that it's brought to you by the same people who gave you the motto: "Only brute force commands true obedience."

It's time to get rid of the rot. Before it eats us up from the inside out.

Revenge can take many forms, for example:

"An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth"

In other words, if you DO break the "Rules", boy are we ever gonna "do unto you" when we catch up with you!

"An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth" should have been taken less literally to be a warning: "If you were to cause damage to another's person or property, how would you like the same thing to happen to you under similar circumstances?"

In any case, a punishment can never equal a crime, just as two wrong actions can never result in positive act. And you cannot erase the evil from someone's heart just by locking them up, or beating them - in fact, these oppressive actions often have quite the opposite effect, with the resolution in the law-breaker's mind: "Next time I won't get caught".

There are many ways to "straighten someone out", but it's best if you can do it in a constructive manner.

It won't matter how advanced technology becomes if our psychological state is still in the Stone Age.
